Ingredients

1 banana per person
maple syrup
Greek yogurt (optional)

Preparation method

1 Preheat the oven to 200ºC. Place the whole banana, in its skin, on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 mins. (The peel will turn black.)
2 Place on a plate and slit the skin carefully. Drizzle maple syrup into the hot banana. Add a dollop of Greek yogurt to the plate if you wish.
3 Eat the banana from its skin with a spoon. It’s delicious on its own, but the contrast with the cool, creamy yogurt, if you have it, is wonderful!

This is delicious as a breakfast, and also makes a lovely dessert. It’s versatile, too. If you prefer, you can halve the bananas lengthways (still in their skin) and bake them like that, to make them easier to serve. Sprinkle with cinnamon or drizzle with syrup before you put them in the oven.

If you have a barbecue, you can wrap the bananas in foil and put them in the coals when you’ve finished cooking. If you make an incision in the skin, you can stuff the banana with pieces of good quality chocolate for an extra special treat.
